I completely agree with 01Grad about the attendance. This is type of game that in years past there would maybe be 500 butts in the seats. I mentioned the same thing to my wife during the game... I was really impressed by the attendance.

Well after the game was over I noticed coaches giving tours to two young men and their families. I suppose the recruiting process never takes a break!

Said the same thing to my group - attendance was pretty good given Winter break....and the winter cold.

Nice comeback win today.....would have been a huge loss. It what will be a very tight race, could not afford to fall to 0-2 with a loss to Evansvillle. Townes saved us - with some help from the unheralded Freshman down the stretch. First rough game for Krutwig - but he still showed flashes and will bounce right back. Ingram continues to struggle - seems to be feeling pressure and is forcing his shots.

Not as impressed as others with Porter today. He was panicked in the first half - had the quick (let's say immediate!) hook going today for anything he didn't like. Avery put up a semi questionable shot when we were struggling - got the hook and never came back in.

Sloth ! respect your views but must disagree a tad--Avery made a questionable decision on a shot--PM did not fool around--He pulled him and inserted another of our many troops because unlike other years he has them--

Thus team soon will have TEN man rotation !! WOW !!

My gut tells me that Avery who was the leading scorer on his previous team is still trying to get used to his role and not being the guy.....really sulked in the UWM game....I think PM has a set of standards for players on the court and sticks by it....I could be wrong but I think he pulled Milt a couple of times...so I am guessing it is team first and individual second...but I do wonder how the quick hook effects development of some players

That is a slight concern too, I have seen Avery complaining on his twitter and kind of comparing to his freshman year at JUCO, where he sat behind a player that is at Arkansas now. He is definitely frustrated, but hopefully him and Porter get on the same page, because he is so athletic

So glad to see our Ramblers come back. What a horrible first half. A few mentioned that we played good D in first half. I respectively disagree. 3 layups in the last several minutes when everyone rotated away from the basket to leave "empty net," uncontested layups.

Definitely expected a few bumps with Krutwig but very surprised at how uncoordinated he was today. Poor hands, couldn't hold onto ball, bad passes and decisions. I know...he's a freshman; and a darn good one, but he was completely out of sync today.

Yes, when is Dante going to be a consistent factor? When he's hot, I LOVE him, but too much of a non-factor, too often.

Townes- Already been said. WOW! What a kickstart he gave us.

Jackson- A couple of awful shots, but God, I love watching him play. Almost always makes things happen when he's on the court.

Skokna- Really surprised no one mentioned him. I thought he gave us an incredible spark for a few minutes with a couple of great moves, a steal, a couple FTs (1 missed); he really cause some havoc for Evansville. Doesn't physically look like much of a threat but he is basketball savvy.

Great to see Ben back. Always lends a sense of calm and discipline when he's on the court. Not a great factor, but we will need him going forward.

All in all, any MVC win against a mid-tier team or higher is one step closer to where we want to be. Very nice crowd and a good win.

Re: Moser's quick hook on Avery.

Every year, it seems, Coach has a player who takes up more-or-less permanent residence in the Porter Moser dog house. This year it looks like Avery is auditioning for the role, with Satterwhite his understudy. In years past it was Nick Osborne, Vlatko Granic, and Cody Johnson.

I didn't see anything wrong with Avery's shot selection. He drove to his left and tried a contested jumper from just beyond the free throw line. He missed it, but it wasn't a bad shot to take.
Avery looks athletic when he's been in the lineup. I think we will need him down the stretch. I hope he can work his way out of Porter's dog house, and that his confidence in his offense hasn't been affected by the quick hooks.

Avery does not appear to be doing what the team and coach need him to do anymore. If you look at his first two games, he went to the glass hard, used his athleticism, and got a bunch of putbacks (ala Donte his Freshman year). The he started playing from the perimeter, not passing, not running the offense, and turning the ball over.
And as I mentioned in the Milwaukee thread, he was a train wreck, had a horrible attitude, and got into it with coach a couple of times from what I saw during that game. And we really needed him that day!
If he would get back to hitting the glass and making an impact there he could be a major asset for us, but he’s not an asset ball handling and staying on the perimeter.
We have many players better at that right now.
