North Carolina beating Syracuse and Iowa State beating Texas would help a lot for us to get an 11.

Are all these sites just predicting what seeds and what locations will have play in games? Most are showing the playing games as the 11 seed. Bleacher Report has the 12 seeds as the play in games. Also every site seems to have the play in games tied to different regions.

The last four at large teams are play-in slots. Sometimes they're at the 11 line, sometimes at the 12 line, sometimes split between the two. Right now, Loyola and St. Marys are kind of in the middle between the 11 and 12 in most bracketology estimates. St. Mary's is an at large currently just above the last four at large teams, and Loyola is an auto bid.

This might help explain it:

Here is a great article on seeding, and how it affects teams advancing round by round through the tournament.

This is why an 11 seed would be a huge plus.... Historically, 11 seeds have a respectable chance of advancing until you get to the Elite Eight. Twelves usually falter in the Sweet 16. Eights, 9s and 5s have trouble getting out of the first weekend.

Joe Lunardi now has Loyola as an 11 playing TCU

Looks like everybody moved us up this morning due to a Mountain West bid stealer that will get a seed in the teens.

Nevada’s loss essentially guarantees Loyola an 11 seed. There are 23 conferences with champs relying on auto bid, and Loyola is highest ranked. Those 22 worse teams will be 4 12-seeds, 4 13-seeds, 4 14-seeds, 4 15-seeds, and 6 16-seeds.

11 seeds are supposed to be in Witchita, Dallas, or Nashville to my understanding, not San Diego.
I was under the impression that if we get better than a 12 seed it is unlikely that we will go to Boise or San Diego. JCT?

I think the seeing locations are somewhat guesses. An 11 can go to SD.
