I would not want to give Marquette a game after they abandoned us when we were in MCC together. Marquette Sucks!

I tend to agree with you Toledo...my only request is that we play some more Jesuit schools in the OOC portion of the schedule. The Valleys lack of natural Jesuit rivals is my only complaint with it. And frankly another successful season or two & there is no reason that SLU would want to turn their nose up at an arrangement like that.

Garanzini's running the Jesuit's education division from Rome isn't he? Can't he lean on Georgetown and Marquette for some Home and Aways ;)

Been a few years since someone here brought up the idea of Garanzini getting involved in basketball scheduling! Kudos :)

I cannot read the tone of this whatsoever so I'm just going to take my pat on the back and leave.

No tone intended. People used to talk about that a lot.

I like the current arrangement and how we’re secure in who we are. In contrast, up to this hour, Wichita fans are still supervising MVC boards for what’s said.

Only thing I’d change about the league is adding Murray State (how on Earth are they not in?) and a Jesuit rival (Detroit if SLU never wakes up).

I would love to have Detroit in the league. The Ramblers have played more games against the Titans than any other team in their history, and Detroit has a large alumni base in Chicago. A number of Chicago Catholic League players from my era, the 1960's, played for them. Also, I hear that they are doing quite well in the Horizon League now.

Thanks 95-99. I did not know that. Larry is a great guy and a good recruiter. He had lazy assistants however. That was a big issue with the past AD.

I think it's a good idea to stay the course in the Valley, and keep stringing together 20+ win seasons.

I would love to upgrade our non-conference schedule and play better schools but we have to be realistic about what we can probably get. At this point, I don't think any Big Ten team or Big East team is going to be willing to come to Gentile under any circumstance. With Northwestern down the street and Illinois a short drive away, there's little incentive for Big Ten teams to bring their teams into Rogers Park. Their alumni get to see them play in Chicago, and it's probably just too big of a risk to go up against us at home. If we ever want to play the Big Ten now I'm assuming we'll have to just do buy-games on the road. Same thing with the Big East and DePaul.

I'm hoping that we can start to get some teams on our schedule from the SEC and and PAC-12. Those conference teams could at last justify coming to Gentile for their alumni and possible Chicago recruiting.

I actually was very pleased with the schedule Porter was able to cobble together this year, but if we get back to the NCAA tournament again this year, i suspect he's going to have an even harder time scheduling than last year.
