I agree with your sentiments, but not your timetable. We will be a VERY GOOD team in two years' time, assuming the same cast of characters. I figure we will take a step back next year to 3-5 in the MVC standings.
You can't lose two Poyolas© and not expect a dropoff while the newcomers adjust.

I don't see much of a drop off because we played most of this season without Williamson.

As far as next year goes, I don't think there will be much intrigue. We know who 4 of the starters are: Krut, Williamson, Cooper and Aher. The fifth starter may be Bruno at first, but I could see Bujdoso getting some starts if his shot comes around. I would be surprised if any of the newcomers are starters at the beginning of the season.

I think Krut may be the preseason POY and may get it based on his career.

However, I think Williamson is the best player on the team and will be POY next year.

It seems logical that Krut would be pre-season player of the year next year, since he came in third this year and #1 and #2 are gone.

Yeah I agree with a lot of this as well; I just think the mental side that comes with youth will hurt us more next year, whether it be turnovers/missed assignments on D. I think we'll play a fun brand of ball next year, with a really high ceiling on offense. They just may need a year to learn how to win close games as a unit consistently. I'm so curious to see how Welch plays in our system. While Kennedy's numbers were really impressive, Welch's were also super impressive. At 6'8'' he has the chance to be a great mismatch guy that defenses will have to account for. We'll be soooo much deeper than we are this season. It will just be figuring out who can take over late in games.

Also, nice to see Cooper Kaifes make the All-Bench Team!

I think the only two guys we can count on for sure to be in the line up are Krutwig and Williamson....I am wondering if next year might be the first year we get away from the 4 out 1 in offense........I thought Frank and Negron showed potential....maybe we will see something different....but I keep forgetting PM is defense first.........so I have heard a lot of talk about how good are incoming recruits are offensively but how good is their defense...

Haven't seen Wojcik play so I can't comment on his D.

Kennedy is a great defender, especially as a shot blocker. He can sky and has very good anticipation. A lot of his blocks are when he leaves his man and helps out underneath. He also uses his quickness for steals.

The game I saw Welch play Naperville North played a zone, so hard to say what his man defense is like. On the videos I've watched he seemed to get beaten on drives on a few occasions.

Wojcik is a total glue guy; I think he's going to be the best man to man defender of our newcomers next season. He's also noted for being pretty heady, makes the smart plays. He's played against top competition both in games and in practice. Athletically he's good, but won't blow you away, he'll need to add some weight, but the kid just hustles at both ends. Eric Bossi from Rivals wrote this when he committed: "Wojcik reminds me a lot of the departed Ben Richardson but he's a little bigger and just a little bit better at most everything than Richardson was when he was getting ready for his senior year of high school right down the road from my house at Overland Park (Kans.) Blue Valley Northwest."

Welch will be interesting, I'm guessing he's mostly defended the post in high school due to his size, but he'll probably have to do more perimeter defense next season.

Blers, I love it when you refer to our recruits or underclassmen as "kids", which is pretty often:

search.php?keywords=Kid&terms=all&author=Blers&sc=1&sf=all&sk=t&sd=d&sr=posts&st=0&ch=300&t=0&submit=Search

The charm of it is that I'm guessing you're 24 or thereabouts. Not a big gap in age between you and them.
What are you going to call them when you get to be my age? Infants? Babies? Neonates?
