Glad Cody is getting more playing time and is making the most out of it. We could really use this type of play game in and game out.

He's bringing the energy and emotion we've been missing this year

I think Cody Johnson's increased playing time has been the difference maker lately! I'm a bit surprised, however, that Osborne has not really developed into the player that he is capable of becoming. I really enjoy watching those dunks on the highlight reel!
Also, what's up with King's non-existent playing time? I think PM put him in with less than 2 minutes remaining even though we had a 32 pt lead.

I just wanted to say congrats on your first Valley win, and in epic fashion! I have yet to see the Ramblers play but I am looking forward to seeing the on-court product, and I do mean that sincerely!

By the way, that was my retarded cousin by marriage on the MVC board, and as it turns out, we had a great time at the dance! ;)

Good luck the rest of the way!

Thanks for the nice comments. Most of us knew this team had the potential to put together games like this, but we were frustrated at the performance so far-- especially given that there was so much on us to prove we had a positive place in this conference. It means a lot to hear a few words of welcome and encouragement.

If this game was on ESPN3 as someone said, I may have to go dig it up and watch. I've been wanting to see the Hobos play and seeing them play at their best could be nice. Congrats on taking down Hillbilly U today. I'm still not sure what to think of them as they didn't have much of a noncon schedule and I don't know how good the Turds are.

If I get a chance tomorrow night, I'll try to find this game. I'd do it tonight, but I want to watch Dude You're Screwed instead.

Getting that first conference victory is big. You have a good shot at getting a 2nd on Wednesday when the Uglies come to town. That is if they ever get out of that ditch they're stuck in somewhere between Normal and C'dale.

Great win today! Wish more of you could have been there, but it's good to know what I'm not the one holding the team back by my presence in Gentile.

Somewhere up the line on this thread a non LUC poster was writing that our MVC likes to protect a favorite--I am afraid we are bush-league compared to the Horizon League for THAT little item--Heck they scrambled their entire tourney format to favor BUTLER--Ask our 63 about that.

At any rate, couple of things --
--MSU announcers were pretty darned fair in their broadcast--right from the onset---Good on them
--Our boys FINALLY played to their potential---We are better than we have shown--young for sure but got talent
--The 'enemy" posters that come to our board are without question the cream of the crop--I compare them to our Detroit/ Mercy Pals--
-------Real classy guys--no question
--Re the other Boards--I shall stay away from them--Who needs it ---

I do respect these folks-- SUB and the rest THANKS

Now then, I did see some of the WSU game which preceded ours---The Shockers CAN go all the way , if they keep up what I saw today--CTIPES they rotate TWELVE guys !!! SHEESH !

Last thiught--Sometimes it takes a while to Jell--We may have done just that today !! We just may be TOUGH enough to compete !!

Next up SALUKIS !

I'm not sure I'd say the MVC does anything to protect the favorites, but fans in general due get a little upset when teams that didn't have good noncons beat the teams that did. It's a perception thing nationally that we deal with. We as fans want to get multiple teams into the Dance so we hope that the top 3 or 4 teams separate from the rest and can get at-large consideration. So I'm not surprised that that MVC board is harsh. I'd bet that they aren't anti Loyola as much as they're anti the bottom 4 or 5 teams right now.

With that said, I think I've expressed my thoughts about the MVC board and why I, and many others, stopped posting there a long time ago. There was a time that I actually wrote a couple of articles for the front of the site and I got good feedback from it. However, if I voiced an honest, non hateful type opinion on something, the mods would delete it because it may hurt a couple of sensitive fans. And the only ones getting censored were WSU fans and not all of us are the types that try to get under everyone's skin. But I think that moderation has fed into how a number of the WSU fans over there are now. They took it personally and as a slight on the fan base as a whole. As I've said before, we're a proud fan base. Heck, I was just answering a question from an MSU fan when I got censored over there. That was just the last straw though. Maybe it's cleaned up some but most of that board seems to be about getting digs in on anyone and everyone. I want to talk basketball with maybe some friendly banter in there as well.

Back to you guys, you did lose a number of bad games, but at least most of them were close. I was hoping you'd be past that going into this year but your youngsters are still learning how to win those games. Hopefully they continue and next season your noncon goes better and you won't receive as much negativity after wins. Keep doing what you have to do and grow your program. I think deep down, most Valley fans want to see you guys progress and get better, but I'm not sure how patient they'll be.

Good luck against SIU on Wednesday. I'll probably record that game and watch it after the Shox take care of the Turds or the following day.

This one would be that game. More energy and spirit than we've shown in any game all year.

By the way, I've taken quite a liking to your nickname for us. It's been rolling around in my head since you suggested it last week. I like the elegant irony of it, given that we are the most costly school in the conference and have an endowment almost equal to the other schools combined. Plus a lot of our students do community service work with people in poverty.

I also like how the nickname connotes a willingness to endure hardship or resort to extreme measures/ruthlessness to survive. We have a set of CTA elevated train tracks going through our campus, on which there are sometimes homeless people seeking to keep warm by riding the train. Given its size and dimensions, the Gentile Arena could be henceforth known as "The Boxcar." The concession stands could sell "Hobo Chili." In the old days, we used to have bonfires on campus to inaugurate the basketball season. I like it a lot.

LUC's lacrosse team (technically, a club) still uses "Hobos" as its nickname.
