Well, we beat the spread for only the second time this year... Not an unexpected outcome against a pretty good team on the road, a few signs of promise here and there.

Held Jake Odom well below his standard performance. Who was defending him, White?

Held them to below their three point shooting percentage, but they had so many additional attempts to use because of offensive rebounding and turnovers...

Johnson played very well. Even though he hit on two out of three long distance attempts (which I'd kind of prefer he didn't make), he was excellent, especially inside. Unfortunately, O'Leary and Osborne had only two points between them, and Crisman was scoreless.

Outscored 34-28 in the second half, which I suppose could have been much worse. Indiana State went about 7 minutes in the first part of the second half without a field goal.

I'd imagine that Cody played more this game because of how we were getting killed on the defensive boards. It's shocking that King didn't make an appearance. Maybe he made fun of Porter in practice. I'd hope that the big men get more playing time. It's clear that they will need to have some impact if we want to be successful in the MVC.

The reason I asked in another post --can PM coach bigs ??--is what happened to Osborne and O'Leary--nada !! It appears that they are in over their heads.

I know little about the game but go conventional--play Cody and King withe Thomas---Keke and Milton at guards with Turk first off the bench--O'Leary can come in to play the Three position--Osborne ?--Must pick up his play-- OUR REALLY BIGS deserva a chance.--O' Leary and Osborne not so much--

This might just stop our melt downs. BUT can Porter change ??

Apparently we will be better down the line --This game probably was Johnson's. He kept us in it--Did he not ??

An Ok performance today.Prove me wrong guys but I don't see us winning more than 3 games in the Valley this year.So much inconsistency from the whole team.Almost 30 years since the last NCAA appearance. So sad-and I don't see it getting much better with Porter, unlike most of you Rambler optimists.Again prove me wrong.

Otherwise, Happy New Year to all of you.

Every time I hear the Porter Moser stuff my reply is "talk to me this time next year" Of course we want it to all happen quickly but that is kind of unrealistic. Youth and experience will not be a possible excuse next year. Still young.....new major components to work in this year.
As for today take a look at the Stats....we had the same amount of field goals......but not close to the same amount of shots due to turnovers,,,,,,offensive rebounding discrepancy......more steals and man 12 more made free throws.
Will be interesting to see how Cody Johnsons performance will change things up for the rest of the year.
As for the King questions. I am guessing that Johnson has passed him by in practice.
GO RAMBLERS

Problem is, we are going backwards from last year and last year was BAD. We were 9-3 last year in non-conference against a tougher schedule. We were 5-7 against a FAR weaker schedule. I thought there is supposed to be improvement. I thought that the experience last year as one of the youngest teams would pay dividends this year.

So far, I'm not seeing it and there isn't a lot of promise. So far I've seen little that tells me Porter is the guy. As Ramblin' Ray said...show me.

That does remind me...has anyone heard what Porter had to say in the post game? Who'd he blame this time?

A couple of local Terre Haute media features on Matt O'Leary's return to TH yesterday. Definitely was a quiet day for him stat wise.

First off, welcome to the Missouri Valley. Registered back during the announcement but just now got activated. I run Sycamore Pride, the Indiana State version of Ramblermania and I liked your addition to the conference because I was born in Chicago and love the city. Really hope in future years our road game with you guys can be a Saturday game so I can trip up.

If any of you are interested, feel free to join in on our game thread: http://www.sycamorepride.com/showthread.php?28846

First let me say I'm sorry about the delay in approving your membership. It had nothing to do with you, just the fact that I was innundated with spam membership requests back in July, when you joined. I had the same trouble at MVCfans.com when I tried to join.

Second, I really admire the SycamorePride Web site. It has-- BY FAR-- the best graphics and look of any fan web site in the MVC. I can also tell that you've put a lot of work in on making it a civil and comfortable site for all Sycamore fans. Stupendous job-- I'm envious.

Third, I'd recommend to all Loyola fans that you visit the thread (linked above) on the game tomorrow. Matt O'Leary's brother-- a lifelong Sycamore fan-- writes a lot about how Matt ended up at Loyola, his recruiting process, and his analysis of Loyola's season thus far. Nicely done.

I am also hopeful that all MVC fans can take the trip to Chicago to see in person what Loyola has to offer the conference. Even as a grizzled veteran of basketball disappointment over the past 20+ years, the infrastructure, financial health, and commitment to the sports programs growing in the future is quite evident and somewhat impressive. We've been mocked as being a token admit to the conference based solely on our market, but seeing the vastness of the market in person-- especially for bumpkins-- tends to shut off that criticism pretty quick. Seeing the majesty of Lake Michigan lapping at our shore, the impressiveness of our campus, and looking deep into the numbers that back it all up makes us an alley-oop slam-dunk. I'm glad that a lot of MVC fans are realizing it now, even as we've pretty much stunk up the joint in the non-con.

Sorry for the late response. No worries on the delayed approval -- my name usually gets flagged because of it's Russian/Slavic roots and because that is where the evil spammers come from in droves so I probably wouldn't have approved it either. Honestly forgot I registered. I also appreciate the kind words about SP. It is a labor of love but that's what fanatics do.

Like I said before, I hope our next road game against you guys is on a Saturday so I can come up. I was born in Chicago so I love the city and frequently visit. Did have a question about your guys court. I was there for the Kladis Classic several years ago and I don't remember your seats being contiguous. Did you guys change that? Have there been any other changes to your gym?

Svoboda -roboda !! You shall be pleasantly surprised, I wager---Large expansion and remodel--Still smallish by MVC standards--Packed it about 5000 now But comfortable--I think you will approve--I hope so. I live in Akron--but I drove over last season--IMPRESSED to say the least--But then I am a guy who used to bump his head on the base of the balcony at old Alumni Gym--Grand old place BUT outdated as was the old Gentile until the money was speny.

Clean as a whistle !!

As they say in Tennessee --" Ya-all come up. ya hear" !!!
