Seriously though, we played very well.

We were so active on defense getting tips, steals, blocks I thought it must be a different team wearing our uniforms.

Obviously Doyle was great, but we did a good job of getting him open and other guys were hitting shots, too, so Drake couldn't focus only on one guy.

Hoping we can pull out a win in Evansville because our next three after that are going to be really tough.

as for the crowd ... yes it was disappointing. I feel there are two keys for improvement:

* Higher profile competition with rivalries ... I believe we have moved in the right direction by joining the MVC and I feel strong rivalries will begin to develop, especially with the Illinois schools
* Winning consistently!! .... creates enthusiam.. this is just going to take time. Porter is a strong recruiter and will continue to bring talent to LU ... hopefully this will translate to w's

I truely believe the program is moving in the right direction and has the right level of focus from the administration ... this is just going to take time.

There will come a day when a ticket at the Joe is a tough one to come by ...

Here's something that would make the games more fun: A student section that actually cheers.

We are making good progress on step one, which is getting more students to the games. There was a nice crowd of students last night. Plenty acceptable.

Step two is to make some damn noise. Get creative. Be funny. They are right next to the opposing team's bench. Get on the coach. In an organized way. It's not hard. I'm a big fan of the "You let the whole! Team! Down!" chant. More of that! Where is the leadership in the stands?

They definitely need to get their crap together. There were several times last night that they were HELPING Drake by counting down the shotclock...with the actual time!

I agree.....that for me to see the students have fun is a plus....I think it was the UIC game that they were very active. All over UIC.
I think a lot has changed since our day in terms of how students interact.I know that even at the high school level student spectator participation is down. I think that athletes have been so treated like Prima Donnas that students no longer see them like themselves. I had a bball player in my suite at LU and another as a TA for one f my classes and they were always hanging around the gym and playing in pickup games. You really felt that they were part of and not separate from. I also think students who are paying more and more and are good students wonder why guys in shorts get school paid for ????
I have noticed that our players go over and high five the student section after games and that is cool but what else ties them to the student body? I am guessing they dont live in the dorms......Hope they introduce themselves in classes and are part of the school.
But the whole game experience should be turned over to the students.....let them pick the music for evrygame maybe in conjunction with a player.......let them pick out the timeout stuff and halftime stuff etc etc. I am out of ideas

I must admit I kind of got a kick out of the "bar fight Barlow" student chant at the uic game! They did their research on him!
