I went over to their board to see what their thoughts were and it truly was hilarious. Them complaining about fouls is laughable. They literally got an NCAA tournament birth last year because they drew refs against us that refused to call fouls against their team, and they complain when we played more physical than them tonight and dominated them in the paint? Bradley complaining about fouls made my night!

They also hate Porter, which is even funnier because you know they’d switch coaches with us in a heartbeat. Wardle completely embarrassed their school, nationally, and made our league look bad with his pettiness towards a respected beat writer in his own back yard. He somehow made the country actively root against an underdog against Michigan state and if any coach on the floor tonight is a clown, it’s him. Also - if you think Brian Wardle wouldn’t get the hell out of Peoria if he was offered ANY job in a major conference at ANY school, you’re an idiot. But, for the record, nobody is asking him to.

Our fans are reasonable and gracious, and it says a lot about your fans that you hate us so much. I’m sorry we came into “your” conference and won “your” tournament in 5 short years, when you had to sit around and lose in 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018 before you could win it again. I suppose it was just 30 years of you guys getting screwed over by the refs. I’m also sorry that our gym is so small that it makes our final four and national championship banners look so big...

God knows we all had to endure a lot of mediocrity before our program became relevant again, and I’m not a huge fan of smack talk - but it’s warranted when you get a bunch of diehard idiots on a message board hating on a team that works hard, does things the right way, and just flat-out beats you. Northern Iowa beat us when we went on the road, but I think we can all agree they are a good team and should be respected. I’m willing to give Bradley fans the benefit of the doubt though... did anyone at the game have any good conversations with Bradley folks?

Bravo.

Great post, but I actually think Wardle and Bradley are perfect for each other.

We sat next to a nice middle age couple from Bradley. The wife was more personable and a good sport about the loud cheering but they were both good folks.

One of the things I most enjoyed during the game was the offensive rebounding. Twelve was over twice what the team has been averaging this year. I think an offensive rebound can demoralize the defensive team, and give an extra shot of energy to the team with the ball.

Re Toledo's great post--I feel that the MOST salient point he makes is that WE do things the RIGHT way --Over the years we have done so- MOST schools have--But some have not--Schools like MIAMI (FLA) KENTUCKY LOUISVILLE BRADLEY et al have not--I have angyst (sp) towards them and have had down through the years.

A great post on OUR great board !!!!!

Great win. Three thoughts.

1. Tate is shooting the 3 ball at a great clip. We need to get him a few more shots from there.
2. Quise only had 4 pets, was a dominant player. He dropped a couple of dimes and defensively and on glass was a beast. He was constantly getting his hands on the ball and passes. For only having 4 pets, I have not seen too many guards affect a game like that.
3. Need the next two games. Can’t sleep in IN State.

All I can say to Bradley fans (and everyone else in this league) is, if you hate our team now, you're really going to hate us next year. We're 7-3, with all three losses on the road by 3, 5, and 5 in our "REBUILDING" year, after losing 2 returning MVC players of the year... It must be tough hating us and then losing to us, knowing EVERYONE is coming back next year... So have fun trying to guard Krut down low, while simultaneously guarding Kaifus, Hall, Clemons and Norris on the wing.... Maybe you can try to get them in foul trouble, and we'll be forced to go to Kennedy, Pipkins, Hebb and Wojcik. I'm sure Darrell Brown, Bar and Kennel will keep pace with us...oh wait... you won't have those guys...

It is impressive that Bradley has an 11,000 seat arena in a town that has 112,000 people with no competing sporting events anywhere near except for the Peoria Rivermen, the Southern Professional Hockey League's finest, and yet can only draw about 4,000 people a game. I get it... we aren't selling out every game, but we are centrally located in a world class city with a Big 10 school down the road, a Big East school down the road, an NBA team, an NHL team, an NFL team, multiple concert venues, multiple theatres, great restaurants, a symphony, a ballet, etc. 112,000 people live in Peoria, and they get 4,000 people. Rather than come to Bradley games, 108,000 people have essentially decided that they would rather do NOTHING instead. Impressive.

The Bradley forum is great.

Braves1996 said, “Porter Moser has not been all that successful at Loyola. He had one unbelievably hot run. Otherwise it’s been a mediocre at best tenure. I’ll take Wardle 8 days a week.”

Dogsrus said, “I’d say slightly above mediocre..... bump from final 4.

I agree though i’d take Wardle..... all day!!!!!“

Trubecalledquest said, “ They also put a LOT more money into the program when he took over. Give Jim Whitesell the same budget and he would have won more as well.”

Porter inherited a crap Horizon league team from Whitesell, who was the Brian Wardle of the horizon league. Once he got 4 years to recruit his own guys and clean things up, he’s been 100-59, with an NIT appearance, a final four appearance, and two conference championships. That’s not counting the 24 wins and CBI championship he won in year 4. If loyola would have invested the money and stayed in the horizon league we probably would have went dancing in year 4 and butler’d the league several years. He took horizon league talent and took the team to a competitor in the MVC in 5 years.

Brian Wardle inherited a far better situation in 2015 and is yet to have 1 winning MVC regular season.
2016 - 3-15
2017 - 7-11
2018 - 9-9
2019 - 9-9
2020 - 6-4 - jury is still out.

This should be Bradley’s breakout year with 3 seniors and a conference tournament championship. Brian Wardle is not a genius. He’s literally everything they say Porter is.

Hilarious. That “one unbelievably hot run” accounted for more NCAA Tournament game wins than Bradley has had in over 60 years.

“Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?”

Even just looking at conference wins, Porter Moser has more championships in the last two years than any Bradley coach in over 30 years (and counting).

Their overinflated egos would be funny if they weren’t so pathetic.

With that I’m done with them for now. Time to turn attention to Indiana State.

The amount of luck they contribute to our run combined with the amount of weight they put on them competing with Michigan State for 30 minutes during the first round of the tournament last year (ending the streak of Valley teams winning in the first round) is just weird.

Wardle really embarrassed the school and Valley with what he pulled last year. That said he's a solid coach though and i'm pretty confident he'll keep them in the top half of the league for a while.

Rivalries are fun. A few fan boards talk like they view us as rivals, i just don't know if we've really found that consistent team yet. Illinois State has probably been the closest. The Porter connection.... Same state... both consistently competed for a while. Their rebuild this year and all around implosion last year has kinda lessened it. I think Bradley and Valpo fans especially want that rivalry... but idk. Bradley fans really seem not to like us but...... ehhhh? I'm not there yet. Valpo has potential due to how close they are, once they can take the next step that could be fun

I've always kinda seen UNI as our respected rival. Just two really strong programs that do it the right way and the games are almost always down to the wire. Even before we were good we tended to be a thorn in Jake's side. SIU has a real chance to be that too if Mullins sticks around.
