This might be a little out of the context of this thread, but also hope to see us continue to keep winning on local Chicago talent in the recruiting market. Cam, Lucas, Kennedy and Welch are such huge parts of this team.

I also have high hopes for Ty Johnson and Ben Schwieger in next years class as well. I think as long as Loyola can keep some of the higher end local talent around, we should be able to compete year in and year out in the Valley.

Don't forget we have two incoming grad transfers from the Ives. These guys are both averaging some pretty decent ppg's, and I wouldn't be surprised if they both start next year. Given that we'll likely lose most (if not all) of our seniors next year, these guys will provide some senior leadership. We may be a pretty good team next year, I don't think this will be our last good season for the next couple of years.

Definitely haven't forgotten them! I was more thinking as wholistic approach for the program. The idea of "staying home" and being able to win/compete on the bigger stages has been more of a draw since the final four run.

We've obviously seen the impact key transfers (Custer, Towns, etc.) have been able to have on the program and we wouldn't be where we are now without them. However, continuing to win commitments from higher end local talent will be key in remaining at the top of the conference year over year (and has the added bonus of often keeping it away from our downstate conference mates).

My goal for the program is to be relevant in the MVC every year (1-3). If we can do that, we will be making post season tournaments and getting some decent pre-season tournaments. I don't expect us to be Gonzaga, but it would be nice to be consistent like a San Diego State, UNI, UNLV, Davidson, or Dayton. Identifiable team, Good players, good recruiting, etc.

Everything that has been said is absolutely true. I have been hoping, nay... wishing, for the Ramblers to be in this situation since I became a fan in the 80s. Even though I was the only guy in my wing of Campion who gave a shit back then.

But given the continual success of the Gonzaga Men's basketball program, what is the real reason that we cant at least try to replicate that? Is it that Gonzaga is an aberration in the universe? If they have the resources to do it, we probably do too.

Also, referring to us as Loyola of Chicago is no longer correct but it still shows up in publications. Loyola Chicago is still probably one more word than is necessary. We really are THE Loyola as far as I am concerned. I watch Loyola (MD) games and they are ALWAYS called Loyola, nothing more.

I disagree we are Loyola Chicago. There are 2 other D1 Loyola’s. You need to differentiate the three and not one of the 3 should claim Loyola to themselves. I remember when our administration demanded that Chicago was even on our uniforms. Now that is too far, school colors on uniforms differentiate the schools unless we are wearing those terrible black uniforms.

If swellafelon can access his feelings, I would be curious to know how he would process a tournament snub or first round exit.

The rest of the way this year? Definitely a tournament bid. Hopefully we win Arch Madness so selection sunday isn't as stressful. We can't afford another Indiana State type of bad loss, but I can stomach a split versus Drake. As for the tournament, if we play like we did against Miami and this year's buzzer beater rims out, I can survive. I'd feel sad for the team, but it wouldn't be the end of the world. If we have a repeat of the Valpo game at Arch Madness, I'd be disgusted.

Going forward, it's clear the program is on solid footing, but I'd still like to see a little more consistency. I don't know the math, and I'm sure this would be an interesting sidebar, but as a mid-major, my hypothesis is that it's probably better to not have bad losses than to have good wins, especially because bad losses in our conference can be massive outliers (i.e. teams ranked in the 200s).

Yeah, just talking about this year and whether the Final Four run or just how good this team is according to the metrics has changed people's expectations. Seems like the consensus is: make the tournament and come out swinging.

I like Ramblers88s thought of being relevant in the Conference every year, I would add getting to the Dance 1 out of 5 years,,,,a better non-con schedule....but for me and it is all co-dependent that the gym continue to be full of students and alumni with a great day game atmosphere. And finally that BRUNOS remains open...........top hat wish...they reopen Hamiltons and Tommy the bartender comes back.
