The way I read it - it’s more about if you are a season ticket holder and how much $$$$ you have donated, not necessarily what time you requested. No idea how many $1000+ Donors/season ticket holders there are, but my guess is that is as far down the list as they will get. There are just not a lot of tickets to go around.

“Loyola will begin accepting ticket requests on Monday, March 8 at 12:00 pm with the deadline to request tickets a week later on Monday, March 15 at 12:00 pm. Fans will be notified if they received tickets by Tuesday, March 16 at 12:00 pm. Those who receive first round tickets will automatically receive tickets for the second round game should Loyola advance. Ticket requests can be made at http://www.ramblertickets.com.

Each account can request a maximum of four tickets. Each customer who requests tickets will be placed in one of the following groups, with priority beginning with group one and continuing through the groups until no tickets remain.
1. Basketball Excellence Fund members
2. Season ticket holders and/or Loyola Athletic Fund donors at $5000+
3. Season ticket holders and/or Loyola Athletic Fund donors at $1000-$4999
4. Season ticket holders and/or Loyola Athletic Fund donors at $1-$999
5. Season ticket holders with no Loyola Athletic Fund donations and 2021-22 season ticket deposit holders
6. Loyola Chicago Alumni and current students
7. General Public”

I'm not pissed at the seeding at all. I am a high risk high reward man and I have a lot of faith in this team. The chance to go at the ACC tournament champs and then possibly Illinois has me salivating.

Every P5 team in this state has been ducking us for far too long. I hope we win our game against tech so they can duck us no more.

Maybe Illinois is the better team. Maybe GA Tech is the better team!? We will get to find out soon enough.

March!

I love the way you're looking at the hand the selection committee dealt us. GT and U of I are going to be very difficult games. In fact, I'd argue it's one of the tougher draws you could ask for. A potential run to the Final Four would mean potentially beating the ACC Tourney Champ, the BIG 10 Tourney Champ, the AAC tourney champ, and the Big 12 tourney runner-up. Beating any one of these teams will be a great accomplishment. Taking 2, 3 or 4 down will mean that we have solidified ourselves as a premier program. It's an opportunity, not a crisis.

I don't want continue beating a dead horse, but how the heck are we an 8 seed while a mediocre Clemson squad gets a 7 seed? What a crock of shit!

Either way, I'd be more pissed if I was an Illini fan (my brother is an Illinois alum and he's not happy about the bracket). Getting to play the winner of the Loyola/GA Tech game in the 2nd round is not a great reward for being a # 1 seed.

I've placed my request for tickets. Hoping we beat Tech and take on Illinois!

Go Ramblers!

Ever since the committee put Kentucky in the same

branch with Louisville back during a time when Ky

would not schedule "Ville during the regular season,

the Selection Committee likes to play cutsey games of

putting schools from the same state together for

potential "chip on shoulder" games of the little

school, with players overlooked by the big school

down the highway. Or forcing a game between schools

where the big school would not schedule a non

conference game against their neighbor down the

highway.

These are potential minefields, especially if the

little school is a team of upper classmen starters

that have played together for three/four years and

coached by either a veteran coach on his 2nd go round

after being in a P5 school OR a young hotshot up and

coming coach.

Bottom line is nothing can be taken for granted and I

think the Selection Committee takes all of this into

account when making bracket pairings.

I agree. And this midwest bracket is loaded.

I read one quote from someone on the selection committee who is looking forward to the Mich St/UCLA play-in game because of the match up of storied programs, or some crock like that. I do believe the potential of an Illini/Loyola match may have influenced the committee in their seedings and pairings.

This is admittedly a longshot, but I'm working on crafting a legal appeal to use in the event we lose to Georgia Tech. The argument in a nutshell is that Georgia Tech was ineligible to play in the 2021 NCAA tournament and must forfeit because it failed to satisfy sanctions imposed by the NCAA over recruiting violations.

Georgia Tech was cited for serious recruiting violations last year in its basketball program. One of the sanctions imposed by the NCAA was a one year ban on appearing in post-season tournaments. Georgia Tech appealed, which by rule meant this sanction could not be enforced while the appeal was pending. In early March 2000, just prior to the ACC Conference Tournament, Georgia Tech dropped its appeal of the post-season ban, while continuing its appeal of other sanctions.

The 2020 ACC Tournament was canceled due to Covid-19, as of course was the NCAA Tournament. It is patently obvious that Georgia Tech had full knowledge by early March that Covid-19 would cause the cancelation of the 2020 NCAA Tournament, and that it acted in bad faith in strategically dropping its appeal when it did.

In effect, Georgia Tech claims it served its one year ban on appearing in post-season tournaments by not participating in the 2020 post-season tournaments...THAT DIDN'T TAKE PLACE.

That is not right! It renders the "sanction" a nullity; not even a slap on the wrist. In other words it cost Georgia Tech nothing to cheat.

But the kicker is that the NCAA has agreed with this cynical manipulation and concluded that Georgia Tech is eligible to participate in this year's NCAA Tournament. This, along with the question whether Loyola has standing to challenge the NCAA's ruling, are pretty big obstacles to overcome on any legal action.

But at the very least this scenario of cheating and legal chicanery should make it clear who the good guys are in this contest.

Not quite an Emily Litella moment, but close...

Spent some time reading GT’s fan board. They’re in a similar boat to us, not a favorable region, screwed by the seeding, and confident they can win. Pretty much what you would expect between an 8/9 matchup. Also lots of incidental looking forward to Illinois, like us

Reading more about their team, it really is their center (POY) and point guard (DPOY) that drives their team, sound familiar? I think it’s a pretty even matchup, will be low scoring, and a win from us will be predicated on not turning the ball over. Moses/Krut matchup will be fun. Aher and Lucas will have their hands full with big wings, Braden/Keith/Marquise will be hounded all game as they try to turn us over. I’m so excited

Hello Rambler faithful — longtime Tech fan here (since the early’80s). I understand your aggravation with the seeding. I’ve seen your team play a couple of times this year and they are really, really good — which doesn’t surprise me since I have felt you’ve had a good team for a few years now. I also feel that your league is better than generally acknowledged by casual fans.

Just wanted you to know that Tech fans are also much aggrieved to have drawn such a tough first round opponent. We are used to getting screwed by the Tobacco Road Mafia, but it’s been a while since we’ve earned an NCAA berth, so getting jammed by that committee into the bargain is something of a relative novelty.

As you may be aware, we play a sort of hybrid zone, variously showing 1-3-1 and 2-3 looks, with some man thrown into the mix. Are there any teams in your league that primarily play zone? If so, perhaps that may help your preparation. Certainly having an excellent passing big like Krutwig who is effective in the high post is going to give us problems. We are not deep, but have good senior leadership on the floor, especially at the point. I don’t anticipate that size is going to be much of a factor other than the threat of Krutwig bullying our lighter bigs down low. It will be interesting to see how the guards from both teams are able to control tempo and keep turnovers to a minimum. In a matchup this close possessions will be at a premium and a few loose balls or offensive rebounds along with free throws may be the difference in the end.

In the “small world” department a good friend of mine coached one of your former players, Majak Kou, at a high school not 20 minutes from me.

GT definitely didn't get the type of seeding one would expect of an ACC champ on a hot streak. Attach that resume to an ACC team in a blue uniform and they are no lower than a 4-5.

It's a nice mindset to have but the truth of the NCAA Tournament is success for just about every team is heavily based on the seedings.

I'd take LSU #8 seed any day of the week over ours. I'd take UNC's as well.
