Ah, well I think we know who's to blame here. We're up 3, Sloth84 starts watching, and we immediately tank and lose the game. Coincidence?

This was a bad one. I wrote a 400-word post about my disappointment, but in keeping with my resolve not to lash out with the new site, I deleted it. I'll let the previous post stand to give you a hint as to where it went.

Just an abysmal game. I think there were three offensive possessions in the entire game that were not abjectly horrible. Late second half, our play coming out of the timeout is for Doyle to dribble around the top of the key for the duration of the shot clock, which seemed to be our strategy the whole night. If Bradley makes a third more of their open corner threes, we get blown out. O'Leary is like a skinny white version of Kendrick Perkins when it comes to his plus/minus. And yes, the defensive rotations were closer to a panic stricken grade school chasing the ball. So disheartening.

This was a disaster. The season is spiraling out of control.

If we continue to play like we did tonight, our Arch Madness debut will be a Wednesday play-in game against the Cahokia Mound Builders.

And we'd still be one and done!

Brutal game, feels like regression this season, though I have not seen much progression for which to regress from. Very frustrating.

Wins, Schmins.

Porter is focused on the BIG PICTURE.

As he is quoted in today's Chicago Tribune:

Quote:
The very tough part for me as a head coach with these guys is...when you're changing culture. when you're elevating a program, I have to look at the big picture. So many people just look at wins and losses. In my mind so many facets are elevated-the talent level, the guys getting better...but the wins don't show up. I have to stay focused.

Maybe someone can enlighten...

What was with the flagrant on Keke at the end of the game? I didn't see anything and everyone in my section was completely confused.

Naturally, this leads to the discussion about the refs. I thought they were terribly inconsistent the entire game. You'd HEAR slapping and there wouldn't be a foul called but then they'd call a ticky tack foul on a drive. Not to mention the lack of calls with elbows flying all over the place.
