MSU 2.5 point favorites

Don't know where you got that... I have the opening line at MSU -8

I’m not sure which company ESPN uses, but they show the line at MSU -2.5 right now. Not that it really matters to me, seeing as I live in Illinois and abide by all State laws regarding gambling on In-State college teams…

All I see is MSU. -8. If you think those other guys know what they're talking about, maybe look for some of the -8 lines for a wager.

Now I'm thinking listing the opening odds is an outdated thing because of the ubiquity of betting. Maybe I'll not do it anymore at all. I thought it would be a way to gauge what "experts" thought before the game, but if it's going to lead to arguments I'll drop it

It very well could have opened 8 and already been bet down to 2.5. I just wasn’t seeing 8 anywhere and was more curious where your line was coming from because I’d love get that number if in could. Sometimes one book just hangs a “bad” opening number and quickly move it after getting hammered.

Personally I appreciate having it in the preview as a barometer, as there is a reason Vegas tends to be right more often than not.

To be completely honest I just missed the odds in the beginning thread post. Meant no disrespect at all posting the -2.5 odds, just saw it updated on ESPN and thought I’d share. I second the opinion that I like the odds in the preview posts now that I know to look for it specifically. It helps me get a decent view on what outsiders think. Thanks for the write up and all you do on the site!

No big deal guys. If I had to post odds for this game, I'd have it at MSU -4 or so. They're the 12th biggest team in DI according to KenPom, and they just don't lose games like this (that decide whether they're in the winning or losing side of the bracket) under Coach Izzo. If we had Krutwig, I'd say Loyola by 1. But you know-- as Elvis Costello might say-- "Accidents Will Happen," and Loyola is good enough to shock any top team.

Well that’s not an ideal start. Hopefully we make some adjustments and start trying to get some outside shots.

Offense is super stagnant. Annoyed that first block on hutty wasn’t called a goaltend

I’m glad someone else saw that. The refs clearly didn’t.

Loved that transition play by Lucas!

Michigan State players were celebrating their dunk and we made them pay!
