You may be right, 20 pt win over the Valley champion (very unexpected) was a boost to the metrics. Think I saw we are 26 in Kenpom now, should be a good boost in NET tomorrow. Announcers and post game commentators both said we should be in; know they don’t make the choice but when national voices are calling for it, youd think we should be. We have better metrics than a lot of bigger names like Xavier, Michigan, Indiana, BYU, etc that are on the bubble, we should be in the tourney.

That being said, let’s erase all doubt and dominate tomorrow.

Agree but only thing that scares me is recency bias. If some of the bigger name bubble teams get hot next week in their conference tournaments, it’ll be fresh on the minds of the committee as opposed to what we did a week prior. One of the drawbacks of having the conference tourney a week before selection Sunday

According to Bracket Matrix, Jerry Palm is the 100th best bracket picker over the last 5 years. I know he works for CBS, but I don’t put as much stock in his analysis as others.

Oh neither do I, bracketology is fun but at the end of the day they are fortune tellers and don’t know any more than us. Just funny to see the wildly differing opinions right now. Palm had Memphis, Xavier, BYU, and creighton all in over us. Hard to take him seriously with that when our metrics are vastly better than all those teams.

If I remember correctly, Jerry Palm had us somewhere around a 12 seed last year, when even an 8 seed was a complete joke (something my Illini friend alumns completely agree with). The only reason people pay attention to him is for some reason CBS still pays him
