Some of yall are weird man. I really dont understand why we cant just admit Lidell is in a different class than most of the players we've seen so far this year. He's a 3rd team all-american, all big ten and all big ten defensive team.

Doesnt mean we're going to lose. I just dont see the value in underplaying our opponents biggest strength and an area that could be problematic for us. Knight fouls a lot and if he gets into foul trouble Hutson playing big minutes against Kyle Young or Keys while we throw Tom and Aher at Lidell could be an issue for us. I'm also worried about our at rim production, EJ is a pretty adept shot block and we all know what Walker Kessler did to us earlier this year. It's ok to admit they have strengths as a team.

The flip side is I expect Lucas will be able to contain Malachai Branham with ease, and if we do that it might not matter what Lidell does!

I wrote that he is the probably the top talent we have faced this entire year.

Liddell's home and away splits are pretty dramatic.

FG%: 53.3 v. 42.5
3Pt%: 42.7 v 28.6

that probably accounts most for the bad road record

He’s absolutely an amazing player. One of the best in the nation, and I said that. My point was that Ohio State does not create the size mismatches that some other teams could have. That will allow us to use different matchups against him if necessary. Going against a team like Purdue or Illinois would give us a lot more problems with those matchups.

Good preview, but I think they’re underestimating our depth and how much our wings, who are all 6-6 to 6-8 (Hutty being more of a true center) contribute and are rotated in and out. They apparently have Chris Knight, Tom Welch, and Hutty as a reserves contributing very little. I seriously doubt that’s going to be the case in this game for at least two of those three. Possibly all three.

Despite the headline, this article reads to me like it's unlikely Kyle Young plays https://www.dispatch.com/story/sports/college/basketball/2022/03/14/ohio-states-kyle-young-hopes-play-ncaa-tournament-loyola-chicago/7039612001/?utm_campaign=snd-autopilot

Hutson is going to have to give at least 10 quality minutes in this game and use his five fouls.

Hopefully he doesn't rack up five fouls in 10 minutes, but I get your point.

If Hutty gets 10 minutes, we lose. Drew has his rotation, changing it now would be hurtful not helpful.

In the NCAA tournament you are going to consistently see NBA level talent, and Loyola has shown that they can handle it. For example:

2018:
Miami
- Lonnie Walker IV. 18th overall draft pick. Averaging 12.3 PPG on the Spurs this year. Loyola held him to 12 points

Tenessee
- Grant Williams. 22nd overall draft pick. Averaging 7.6 PPG on the Celtics this year. Loyola held him to 12 points
- Admiral Schofield. 42nd overall draft pick. Averaging 3.2 PPG on the Magic this year. Loyola held him to 14 points

Nevada
- Caleb Martin. UDFA. Averaging 9.4 PPG on the Heat this year. Loyola held him to 21 points
- Cody Martin. 32nd overall pick. Averaging 8.2 PPG on the Hornets this year. Loyola held him to 16 points

Kansas State
- Xavier Sneed Played two games with Jazz this year, currently in G League. Loyola held him to 16 points

2021
Georgia Tech
- Jose Alvarado. UDFA. Averaging 5.3 PPG on the Nets this year. Loyola held him to 13 points

Illinois
- Ayo Donsumu. 38th overall pick. Averaging 8.5 PPG with Bulls (And you all see the impact he is making). Loyola held him to 9 points.

EJ is projected to be a 43rd overall pick this year. He is a great player, but we have shown that we can play with those types of guys and he likely will not win the game on his own.
