Regardless of his height, I am sure we will make a run at Podzimenski. He fills the need of the taller rotational shooting guard - same type of player we are already looking for - along with Sheldon Edwards, Tyler Thomas, Cam Spencer, etc. Not sure that whoever we get out of this group will be a starter so if Podziemski has to start, then he may be a no go for us. If we start 3 guards - then whoever we get from this group would start. But I see the "3" starter coming from the slightly taller group of Thomas, Schewiger or Lewis. Yes - Schewiger and Lewis will be freshman - but I am optimistic that one of they may be good enough to crack the line up at some point (this can still happen in mid major college basketball - we just haven't seen it at LU for a few years). Like a few others - I am not sold that Thomas is the default starter at the 3.....good player who will be in the rotation, but not sure he quick enough to play D at that position and not sure he will ever be a consistent outside shooter.

No doubt we should pursue Podz aggressively...he would be a perfect 2-guard for Loyola for multiple years. He plays hard on defense and can shoot the lights out. Honestly, he would probably fit better as the starting 2 with Marquise back in the 6th man role. I am holding out hope we can also get a leading-scorer and best player type of guy in the portal as our starting 3. I admittedly have lost track of our scholarship numbers, but pretty sure we have at least 2 more?

I know he's listed as that...I'm also an Illinois fan, and there is no chance he's taller than 6'2". He looks point guard sized on the floor.

Here's a photo of a barefoot Podz standing next to Luke Goode (I'm assuming shod) and RJ Melendez (footwear status unknown). Both are listed at 6'7". To me it looks like Podz is much closer to 6'5" than 6'2". He's even listed at 6'6" on a couple websites.

Your citation of your Fighting Illini fandom does not add to your credibility regarding Brandin's height, but it does incidentally make you an object of scorn, ridicule and pity.

By the way, who did you root for when Loyola played Illinois in the Tournament last year?

Loyola Undergrad Class of 2012, Illini MBA Class of 2015 weighing in here....He's for sure shorter than listed by the Illini program. Also someone the Ramblers should go after.

As with all Ramblers fans last years matchup was LUC all the way. Undergrad loyalties > Grad forever.

Obviously Loyola, but it's still mind-blowing to me that they inhabit the same basketball universe. Never thought I'd have to choose.

Not holding my breathe on Klintman. To me, it just seems like he wants to go to a "power conference" school. Even though we're been better than Colorado in recent years, there's a perceived value of a power conference school that we can't offer. I remember the first time he committed his high school coach was in his ear trying to get him to go to a power school. I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case again.

Plus, I feel if he was coming here, there'd be a little more noise surrounding our name and his. I haven't really heard much since he opened his recruiting back up, so either we didn't recruit as hard this go around or he wasn't as serious to committing to us as we hoped. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised with this one, but I have a feeling he'll go to Colorado.

I will counter your pessimism with shameless optimistic speculation. Maybe:

1) that Instagram comment means Loyola is his default choice after opening recruiting back up. These other visits were just due diligence.

2) Drew is holding off on offering the last two scholarships because he is pretty sure we'll land Bobi.

Either way, will be good to know today. The rest of the dominoes for the 22-23 roster should fall shortly after.

Well, regarding Klintman we have been talked about as in on him since his recruitment reopened. In his first statement after reopening his recruitment he said:

"I took official visits to Maryland, Loyola-Chicago, and Rutgers; they are still in the mix for me. I hear a lot from Arizona State, Central Florida, and VCU right now.”

He also added:

"Coach Drew (Valentine) is a really good coach, and he has been recruiting me for a while. He is the new head coach at Loyola-Chicago. They have been winning games, and they have a winning culture. They are not a high-major school, so if I went there, and I earned the minutes, I think I could do great things and play a lot there.”

The big obstacle is that Klintman wants to play in the NBA. We just don't put out NBA talent. Even with guys like Lucas and Krut, the NBA hasn't and probably won't come calling.

You play in the PAC-12 with all that national media on you? Your odds sky rocket. However, Klintman won't be getting the same minutes early on for Colorado and as we all know, most NBA draft picks are 1st or 2nd year guys.

TY Johnson set to visit UC Davis and Niagara. So definitely taking a step down but should find good minutes at either of those schools.

Klintman officially commits to Colorado on Insta.

Sigh... What could have been.

I suspect our dominoes will fall quickly now.
