That was 2h Myrtle Beach Ramblers bad. Not really any positives to take away.

Down 17 and getting completely outclassed in every phase of the game. Was looking forward to this game for a couple days to gauge our progress. Maybe it is a bug and the team is not physically right. I did notice against Albany that Quise was playing short minutes and seemed congested and struggling a bit. So maybe its a bug as we seem a bit slow tonight.

Stanford isn't a good team. Was hoping we turned a corner, but this performance sets us back and can't be great for our confidence going into our A10 opener next week. What a disappointment.

Listening on app. Announcers keep talking about how many bunnies we have missed tonight and how we just can’t make a shot. Disappointing game.

Frustrating game. We came back to get it to 8. However, we only scored 20 in the first half. 40 in the second half. Where was the energy and sense of urgency in the first half. We were not ready to play. I know we were missing some guys and announcers said Quise was sick all night, but we had enough to compete and win. Good news is we only had 12 TOS.

BTW, low class by Stanford scoring when game was over with seconds left in game and double digit lead.

Let’s hope we are ready to jump on New Year’s Eve against GW.

We were shorthanded, we battled, and we came up short. Learn from it, get healthy, and put the A10 on notice that you’re here now.

Marquise played 30 minutes and had 14 w 8 boards, so throwing up 4/5 times didn’t seem to effect him too much.
What did have an impact was the total beat down our staff took vs the Cardinal staff in terms of prep and planning.

Off a great Clemson performance this one way just bad all the way around.

Think we may have to wait to get the whole story on this game. I am curious about how travel went, what the whole illness thing was. Curious that with illness going around Edwards only got 4 minutes while St. Thomas got 17. Holidays coming up...I am thinking we were just not in top notch form , all around. Also curious if there are people on the board who sit close to the bench at the games and what they think about moral etc.
Norris played all 40 minutes...
We got outrebounded significantly which sometimes can be an energy stat. and we lost the assist to turnover battle...only 9 assists..
There have been some signs of improvement...but we need Edwards to provide some meaningful minutes off the bench and Golden to give some decent minutes against some of the big bigs in the A-10
but looking forward to the A-10 opener.

I'm trying to be really positive about this season. We're in a new league, we've got 11 new players, coach is going to have to craft a way forward with the players he's got. I'm trying to re-set expectations after preseason polls and analytics had us as a bubble team right off the bat in a league that preseason polls and analytics had also overestimated. It's tough to rachet down expectations, especially after the Clemson win.

When I was younger, I wouldn't hesitate to go after players whom I knew had big talent, but weren't performing. I'm more cautious about criticism now.

For instance: Bryce Golden.... Perhaps Butler built a good part of their offensive schemes around him playing 20+ minutes. Just 10 months ago, Golden had a career high 22 points in a Big East game against Marquette. He had 20 points in a win over Xavier in the 2021 Big East Conference Tournament, and 18 points in a win over Villanova in 2020. He had nine rebounds in that win over Xavier, and he was 9 of 12 from the field with five rebounds and three assists in that win over Villanova. In the past year from today, he's played three games against DePaul, with two wins playing for Butler where he averaged 17 mpg, 7 ppg, 3.5 rebounds, and shooting 60% from the field; and one game against DePaul for Loyola (a loss), where he had 2 points in 9 minutes on 1 of 2 shooting. I don't expect us to change our offensive system to fit in a player who's here for a graduate transfer year, but I do expect us to find a way for an experienced player to add something really positive to the offense (or the defense) in a 12 or 15 minute per game framework.

I think Saint Thomas' body has changed since he showed up on campus. I think he's bigger, taller, and half a step slower. There are strategies and techniques for improving quickness-- Tate Hall was not quick, but he learned how to position himself and anticipate so he wouldn't get burned by a quicker player. The dream (I guess?) is to have Saint Thomas play shooting guard, I think, but he's not quick enough for that right now on the defensive end. I think he's got to be a 3 or a 4 in a pinch, which means he needs to drive and post up more instead of playing on the perimeter. A lot of his turnovers are from traveling calls trying to get started on a drive to the basket, and even his spot up shooting is very unsure. He needs more confidence, he needs more specialized training to improve quickness, positioning and anticipation. Get someone in to work with him.

Sheldon Edwards is very talented, especially on offense. I have seen him make some great plays on defense also. Last season, Sheldon Edwards averaged 11.4 points per game and led Valpo in steals and blocks... on a team with Ben Krikke and Kobe King...

We have to find a way for these exceptionally talented and experienced players to contribute this year. Develop plays for them where they can succeed and get confidence. Keep the offense flexible enough so these guys can find a space to excel.

We need to get Braden Norris some rest during games. Dawson and Quinn being out hurt a lot. When they're healthy, I would be very interested in seeing a rotation with Dawson, Norris and Quinn on the court at the same time....

Agree with all of you guys. I didn't see the game, but I've seen it before. For whatever reason there are games when we seem unprepared. I know it's not for lack of scouting and film. Maybe it has more to do with cold shooting than anything else.

The rotations are too tight.

It's the same story. Even with Dawson and Quinn active, Norris is still playing 38 minutes a game. We desperately need Golden and Edwards. I thought Wilson might play more than Edwards, but what do I know. We won't survive with six players--and one of the six is Saint who can't shoot. He's had some productive games, but I'm not sure what the expectation is for him. He's a 24% three point shooter. Maybe he's one of those guys who light it up in practice but can't make shots in games.
