LU - even if we lose Picket, we will still have 2 scholarship point guards. Richardson is a point guard....and White.

At 6'2, Richardson probably has to play a little point and hopefully has the ability to step in that role for a little while. However, most scouting reports on him indicate he's a great shooter rather than a guy who can run the point. I think it would be safe for us to get a JUCO kid whose really comfortable playing the point, especially when PM saw how awful his first year was with Brito and Crisman taking the ball up.

I think we're going to see Milt bringing the ball up more next year. He can be very successful there just as Blake was toward the end of his career as he became the floor leader.

Milton had 105 turnovers this season....108 assists. You really want a better ratio from the guys handling the ball. We had two players who had almost 2 turnovers for every assist who handled the ball a lot......Christian Thomas and Devon Turk.....But as Coach Moser said the Valley is a developmental league. So improvement from year to year is very important and Milton will be drawing a crowd when he has the ball.

My crystal ball says this is correct.

Went and watched one of our potential recruits play last night, Conner Cashaw. He is a 6'5 jr at Stevenson. Also playing was Ore Aragundade who is a senior from St. Viator. He has comitted to Drake. He was very impressive. I thought it was early to make any kind of comment on Conner Cashaw. He has some filling out to do but seemed to have a real good sense of the game. the real attraction was Jalen Brunson a 6'2 lefty point guard who the Illinois coach was there watching and Izzo watched last week. He is a jr and already looks physically ready to bang in the Big 10.

My sense was that a lot of Doyle's turnovers (15%?) were not ball handling errors per se, but rather getting called for a charge driving to the hoop, fouls off the ball, trying to do too much on his own against double teams, etc. His worst two games in turnovers were the first game against Southern Illinois (8 turnovers, 3 assists when Jeff White had 6 assists/4 turnovers) and against Portland State (7 turnovers, 2 assists).

However, here's something else to consider: Doyle had six games with six assists or more, and in those six games he averaged only 8.2 ppg. And if you take out his 28-point OT game against UNI, he averaged 4.2 ppg. In games with five or fewer assists, he averaged 16.5 ppg. So it seems to me that if you put a lot more ball handling responsibilities on Doyle, you're giving away about 8-12 points per game. It would be one thing if we had better balanced inside-outside scoring, but we don't. Doyle is one of the few players we have who can create offense on his own.

There are some 1-7 shooting nights in there, too. Maybe there's a good reason he didn't shoot as well in games in which he had 6+ assists, but maybe he just had off nights shooting and decided to pass more.

I think Milt has the ability to help bring the ball up every now and then, but my point (no pun intended) is that if Keke goes down, Milt becomes our #1 point guard. That's not really the most ideal position to be in, and recruiting would be the fix to that problem.

you know the game has changed from a passing game to a dribbling game. You need at least 3 ball handlers and two spot up 3 point shooters. I think you want Milt getting the ball in one on one situations. He is just about unstoppable. His first step is exceptionally quick. If nothing else he should be able to get the other team in foul trouble and make a ton from the line. As point he can easily be doubled and have to pass it off. the best thing that can happen is for jeff and Joe Chrisman to continue to develop as ball handlers and offensive threats. That will just allow Milton to continually dominate.
