Miles is BACK!!!!!!!! If you would’ve told me we lost the game last night but he’d be back in a Loyola uniform, I would’ve taken it 7 days a week and twice on Sunday
I might not go quite that far, but it is great news. I expect that it will be his last year with the program. If everyone returns, next year is going to be a very talented team that can both defend and score in diverse ways.
This is fantastic news. Drew was right when he spoke about revenue sharing being good for Loyola and non-football based schools. Some of the earlier threads where we are being mentions might in the hunt might be an indicator that some of these talented guys at big programs might consider schools like Loyola due to the "bigger names" sucking most of the big money that is available.
As far as next year is concerned, we have the makings of a good base, but we need some pieces. The German kid is a good start, but we need a bona fide low post scorer and at least 2 other bona fide 3 pt shooters.
So, let's see how the portal shakes out.
I did see an interesting article regarding the amount of kids in the portal and the ending of the COVID additional year. Here's the link
https://www.anonymouseagle.com/2025/3/24/24385952/ncaa-mens-college-basketball-transfer-portal-opinions-hot-takes-warning . The premise is that everyone has been diving into the portal since COVID with all the seniors and grad students that were available due to the extra year. This might be why the number of kids in the portal was so high. He speculates that with this coming to an end there be as much as 25% fewer players in the portal moving forward. This might mean that as coaches who were maybe relying on the portal times might get tougher there will be be dramatically fewer players to chase. He further talks about how coaches who continued to recruit high school players, Like Shaka Smart (author is a Marquette fan), may have an advantage because they kept their options open.
Interesting points. It will be interesting to see what happens next year in 2026 with the portal.
