I know they expanded the Dance a tad--BUT please advise why two number 12 seeds had to play in rather than say two 15s or two other sixteens !!

The 4 play-in games feature the lowest four seeded teams, usually AQ's, in two of the games. The other two games are the last four at-large selections, which are typically on 11 and 12 lines.

I kind of see the logic? Part of it, I'd think, is to increase attention in the first round by having bigger name teams...

The other weird thing this year is that three of the play-ins are in the Wichita region.

It really is loaded - it has 19 teams!

Personally I think all the play-in games should be at-large teams. I think those who get the AQ should get an automatic entrant into the tournament. And nobody really considers the first round, the first round.
