I know we already kind of started this discussion, but I thought it deserved a separate thread. If I'm correct, these are all potentially on the table next year:

1. @ UIC
2. @ Kent St.
3. Tulane

Maybes:
4. @ Campbell? (was this a guarantee this year)
5-8. Las Vegas MTE Tournament? (2 on campus sites, 2 in Las Vegas around Christmas)?
9. @ SEC Team? (probably a guarantee game; I personally hope it's Missouri cause I think it will be a nice road trip for our fans rather than a trip to say Texas A&M or Auburn)
10. IUPUI? (please don't happen)
11. @ NIU? (Is this series over?)
12. MVC/MWC Challenge?
13. Creighton? (unlikely, but does the fan blog have that good of sources?)

We are allowed 30 games if we have an MTE correct? That will mean 12 non-con games and 18 games in the Valley

31 games with 4 team mte. Also there is no mvc Mwc I asked Elgin. They are working on a new kind of bracket buster like event in future years with top teams from conferences not as many as before. rule 17.3.5 states that you are allowed:

27 contests plus a qualifying MTE
or 29 contests with NO qualifying MTE

People used to say you get 4 games for 1 but that is NOT true actually. A qualifying MTE of 4 games actually gives you 2 extra games (29 total instead of 27 total). So it is 4 games for 2. Not 4 for 1.

Also D1s can play 4 non D1s in a reglar season. Technically you could play 2 non d1 exhib. games and 4 regular season games totalling 6. Porter seems to prefer a closed scrimmage and 1 exhib. game.

Finally the MTE must be concluded within 2 weeks of the start date so home games if we are in the Vegas Classic would be the week before Christmas.

I know Elgin really wants an MVC/MWC showdown. Shame it isn't this year though.

We had one that went for four years with the MWC and it was a lot of fun. We played 2 away and 2 at home and you didn't play the same team twice. They tried to make the matchups even so the top of each conference played each other. We played TCU, UNLV, Air Force and San Diego State. TCU was part of a H/H that had previously been setup. Problem is that the MWC got better and we didn't hold up our end so they chose not to renew.

It did help with scheduling though and I believe last year was the first after it wasn't renewed. Hopefully, we as a conference get our act together and can start it up again. I think the MWC would be open to it if we show progress as a whole. The A10 would be an outside chance, but they have 14 teams I believe and that could be problematic. The Big East would work out well but that's not going to happen as they think they're the B1G.

I'd much rather have a conference challenge that another Bracket Buster type event. I really didn't like a noncon game thrown in the last few weeks of the regular season.

When does it become "this year" and not "next year". Great academic discussion.
