Joins Milton Doyle and Donte Ingram as pretty decent CPS players in the Loyola program. I've said for a while that getting these CPS players is key to rebuilding this program. I see Marlon and Donte as immediate contributors next season especially in light of all the transfers.

Totally agree! It's awesome to have these guys from Chicago. It's been too long.

Reminds me of the team that Gene Sullivan put together in the 1980's.

Kid had offers from Big East, ACC, and SEC schools, among others. Great get by Porter, gotta give credit when he deserves it (which hasn't been often, lately).

Well, this changes EVERYTHING....

How about a starting five that looks like this: White, Crisman, Doyle, Thomas and James or Jones.... Ingram, Richardson, Knuth, and Turk off the bench.

This bunch is going to be quicker, more athletic, and able to score off the pass or dribble more consistently. There might be some times where they're exposed on experience and decision-making (especially when Thomas and White are off the court), but pretty solid on the talent level-- maybe even in the top two in terms of raw talent in the league. The shooting guard position is absolutely loaded, and maybe Ingram should consider bulking up and learning the SF position to take over for Thomas. Point guard is going to be dicey when White needs a breather, but there are some alternative strategies to compensate for that. Would love to still have King as a role player/project to give more length and depth in the frontcourt, providing the flexibility to go bigger, but... oh well.

Talk about a radical makeover.... This team promises to have a completely different modus operandi next season. The Jones get makes ALL the difference, especially if he can add some muscle in the weight room.

BIG kudos to the staff.... I was starting to get very concerned about the defections, especially since the biggest weakness last year was experience and we'd invested so much in players like Osborne and O'Leary. The raw talent and skill set of this incoming group can compensate for a lot of the lost experience, and a top big man like Jones was the biggest hole in the roster.

So here's a toast to Coach Moser and the staff as I prepare to dine on braised crow tonight!!

You know, i'm still not happy with Porter but I have to give him some credit for what has happened with the roster. The downside: he's running the team like a business. The upside: he's running the team like a business.

I'm still in show me mode, but the Jones signing does give the slightest glimmer of hope.

Can you imagine if Nolan Berry transfers?

I've seen 2-3 minute highlight videos of Richardson, Knuth, James, Jones and Peterson, and watched parts of two Simeon games with Ingram.

So I consider myself to be as big an expert as anybody else on Ramblermania about them.

And you know what? I have no idea how good they are, or if they're any better than the players who transferred.

I hope they are, but until the time we actually get to see them in action, it's anybody's guess.

Just remember that Knuth, Richardson, Ingram and Jones will be freshmen, so don't expect any of that group to be a real difference maker next year. I expect Peterson and James to make a bigger immediate impact, especially James because he's the only big guy we have with any college experience.

But hope does spring eternal, and I think Moser does deserve some credit for landing Jones, although I think geography more than Moser's recruiting skills determined the outcome.

I will give credit where credit is due. I think PM played a role in getting Jones, I think geography played an even bigger role in getting Jones, and I think Milton Doyle played the biggest role in getting Jones. But at the end of the day PM landed a big one, so a well deserved congrats to him.

Jones will be huge for us, although I would really like to see us land Keith Thomas just because this team is young and raw. Someone hit the nail on the head earlier when they said that this team will frustrate next year with decision making because we're so young. Also, 3 scholarship forwards is not good depth, especially if somebody gets in foul trouble. Ingram and Knuth are probably more like slashers/wing forwards than they are PFs. I don't know how those kids will be able to match up with the bigger bodies in the MVC.

I still also am not happy with the transfers. We had talent in all four of the forwards that transferred, we never got close to developing them, which is on the coaching staff. Just because it's more business like doesn't necessarily mean it's a great environment. The fact that we've had multiple players leave (and to lesser schools with our old assistants no less) still doesn't speak well to how PM handles his players.

OK --Let us NOT forget one BIG thing--We won how many games last season--Eight nine ? Whatever---PM coached and recruited those that left--BUT they played the games and did --not so hot-- The only real talent we had was Milton, White (maybe) Turk, and Thomas--Crisman was all heart but... That's all PM had. Those that left have chosen the proper level. And yes, as Marc said back in the day--I did come to bury them--not to praise them----

Now let's move forward--This new blood should mesh nicely with Milton and the boys==Good on Porter--now let;s see if he can help them succeed.

I like these recruits--They just may FIT---Osborne and O'Leary did not. If we have two more spots to fill maybe we get lightning in a bottle with them.
