Why is this guy looking?

He has applied everywhere. Believe it or not St. Bonnies pay scale is very poor. He was a finalist at NDSU and Oakland. He has not signed a new contract at Bonnies. So he either knows that Bonnies can't pay him what he thinks he's worth or he's using the job process to establish his worth. Both him and Hartzell were part of the first search.

Hartzell is much more than an "enthusiast"; he owns race cars, publishes 3 racing magazines, and is an event promoter. It's not his hobby, it's his business.

The guy is responsible for more toxic emissions than Cigarboy at a political dinner.

But seriously, I get the point that an employer ordinarily shouldn't concern himself with what an employee does on his own time. And I agree with it. But if an applicant for employment engages in a commercial activity that is contrary to a core belief of a private employer, then I think it's legitimate for the employer to consider this when making a hiring decision, particularly when the position is a high level one and the incumbent will represent the employer in public and the contradiction may become exposed.

PETA should be able to refuse to employ somebody who operates a part-time taxidermy business.

I may be on somewhat shaky legal grounds proposing this (depending on how you formulate the issue...and on whose ox is being gored) but I think an organization should have the right to seek out people who share its values.

I believe it. They compete in one more sport (total, men's and women's) than we do, and have a budget 30% below ours. Their total sports budget is last by far in the A10.

He has a God complex. He is a DePaul guy who thinks that he magically becomes a Loyola guy by being here for a few years. He is terribly belittling. He doesn't believe that Loyola traditions can be resurrected. He doesn't t believe that Loyola has any traditions. He thinks he is much more intelligent than he really is. He thinks he's going to be University President when Garanzini leaves. Really, he's just a big asshole who cares more about his career than he does about making the University better.

I was under the impression that Loyola's charter required its president to be a Jesuit. I know all 23 Loyola presidents to date have been Jesuits. http://www.luc.edu/archives/presidents1.shtml

Do you have a photo of Kelly you can post here? I find it's easier for me to work up a good lather against somebody if I can visualize him or her.

I believe Loyola would always prefer to have a Jesuit in charge. There are some extremely talented ones who are on the verge of become what any Jesuit institution would want and need in a leader. It's my understanding that the by laws were changed to allow a lay person to become president.
