That's right, Niego goes to your alma mater.

It's been a long time since they've had a halfway decent basketball player at LTHS. You have to go all the way back to Jeff Hornacek...ha ha.

Matt Rafferty's Hinsdale Central team is in the same tourney, and should also play Friday at Lyons.

No offense meant, but I think I'd rather have Roosevelt Smart than Niego and Rafferty.

I would too because he upgrades the talent level of this team more than any other player out there, but Niego and Rafferty do play positions of need where as Smart plays a position where we might have a logjam at. That said, given Porter's transfer record, I wouldn't be surprised if we had room for all 3 of them at the end of the season.

I might try to make it out to the tourney this Friday too.

I bet Porter or one of the assistants will be there as well.

See if LU could get the younger Niego too; he's 6'7 so he could play for us tomorrow: http://ilprepbullseye.com/Sleeper_Teams.html

The official word from Roosevelt:

Quote:
In other Sunrise news, Rivals150 shooting guard Roosevelt Smart decided not to sign with Loyola in the early signing period. An explosive wing scorer who has added needed strength, Smart said that he is still considering going to Loyola but that he felt he rushed the decision and that he wants to see who else will get involved.

Translation: Smart wants more people to offer him so he doesn't have to go to Loyola.

You know, if the right high major offers don't come and we have a good enough season where Porter (and Mullins, his AAU coach's son) sticks around, I think we still have a shot at him. Milt had a taste at high major basketball, and knew that the playing time wouldn't be right for him. I think the same thing could happen to Smart. Plus, PM was supposed to be hailed as this great recruiter in the Chicago area, where competition for recruits is fierce. We have a dandy in Milton and possibly another really good one in Ingram. But we still need more to really compete in the Valley. So this is a guy that Porter has to do what he was brought in here to do: close.

I have a feeling that Porter isn't going to be drinking any coffee...

If a kid is great in biology and wants to be a doctor, we have a fantastic pre-med program. If a kid is great in theater, we're located in a great city for theater and our theater program has been very successful, with instructors who are leaders in their field both academically and professionally. Our poly-sci progam, philosophy, and history programs are superior if you're thinking about a career in law, politics, or public service. For finance, there are few schools in the Midwest that compare. We've got five Top 50 recruits in men's volleyball, most of whom committed before we won the national championship this past season in our second consecutive trip to the final four.

But if basketball is a career interest, we're a little "iffy" right now.

You're being generous.
