I commented on the ISU preview post but am going to start a new one here to see if I can get a little more involvement before I jump into the water.
The discussion as basically that it was embarrassing and depressing to attend LU games and that this might also have side effects on the program.
Some ideas were.
1. MOre Noise solution sit everyone together
2. More people solution cheaper tickets
3. More student involvement solution ????

Action.1. Talk to AD, ticket manager, student liaison about 1,2,3
2. Target one game where Ramblermania identified focus on getting more people and get ticket discount,
3. Promote Ramblermania to increase numbers of involved basketball community
I would like further ideas, feedback etc. HELP

I don't know what effect Ramblermania would have, but if it makes anyone feel any better--- December 2016 broke the record held by March 2015 (during the CBI) for traffic on Ramblermania since the new site was created in April 2013. The week of December 11 was the third highest week ever, and the week of December 25 broke the all time record by 9,000 hits.

Maybe the site could help a little with mobilization. Obviously, Winter break is going to make it rough to get students. And as for just lowering ticket prices, I think it could be a little more targeted-- like kids between certain ages, Rogers Park residents, Edgewater residents, etc. High school students from area schools, churches, etc.

Well I did a little exploring on Wednesday and found some support. However I did get some interesting tidbits including the fact that Bobby Knight when at Texas Tech , when fans were scattered, would grab the mic and wrangle the crowd down closer to the court and get them all to sit together. I also discovered that at Depaul when they televised women's game they got the crowd to sit behind the bench or the televised area.
At the game again I noticed many separate areas where people were sitting.
I still believe that given that attendance will not improve drastically this year game atmosphere would benefit from getting everyone in at least two larger areas.
I certainly did not get much support here which makes me think it is not worth my effort but I will go ahead a pass the ideas on to AD Watson.
But considering how well we played we are not a very excited crowd.THese kids play hard. I believe they need more support

It was striking to me how hardly anyone in the crowd seemed to cheer when the team left the court for halftime with an 11 point lead or whatever it was.

THIS. When i brought up crowd noise in a previous thread it wasn't from a attendance perspective. For a 6pm Wednesday tip i thought the crowd was better than expected. With the amount of people that were in Gentile Wednesday, it still can be a decently loud place. There's just no built in fan culture/tradition of cheering when the team leaves or comes out... That stuff takes time to build, and of course and it has certainly eroded during the 90's-early 2000's. I was happy some noise was made when UNI made their run it's not much but it's a start.

Maybe they were emulating a Taylor University tradition?

This brings back some of my favorite LU memories.....when on a fall afternoon we would walk down Devon to
what was then Guardian Angle Orphanage to watch the LU football team. The cheerleaders were a riot...they did more slapstick then anything else. Every game they would attempt to make a pyramid and fail miserably in a different way each time.....they would let dogs loose on the field....harass the officials and of course it did not hurt that they tossed bottles of Boones Farm (Strawberry Hill preferred) into the crowd after a score.

Point is it was fun and the crowd was engaged........(until someone embezzled 40,000 that was meant for improvements and that ended Coach Irelands love of football at LU.) I think we need some creative approaches to crowd engagement.
