Apropos of nothing, SIU doesn't think we belong in the MVC. They've said it on numerous occasions in their board.

Comically, though...if WSU and UNI are on board with us, why can't the SIU's of the world?

Of course, the answer to that lies on the Hoops court plus the other Conf venues ! Just keep beating them as we did last evening and their objections will be answered !

Also, how is their old Pal Creighton doing these days ?? Dead last !!

SIU is quickly making their way onto my "most hated" list along side DePaul and Marquette. They think they are better and more important than they are. I guess our out of conference record and RPI are worthless... same with our 5 conference wins (including the win at Evansville).

Sour grapes? Most likely. From here on out, I want nothing more than to beat SIU every single time we play them.

Yeah, it's kind of weird. Most other online fan bases seem to have gotten over it. If we could start drawing 3-4,000 for games, then nobody would have much to complain about. Speaking of which, tickets are half price today for the UNI game. Plenty available...

And now --step three--at worst an even record on the regular season at 15-15

An even record according to our record books, but it's not quite that simple.

The 2 non-D1 opponents won't count for our record when it comes to qualifying for a postseason tournament. One more win against Bradley, Drake, or Mo. St. would pull us to, at worst, a .500 regular season record versus D1 opponents (14-14). 2 wins would cement us at 15-13 going into Arch Madness, but 15-14 or 16-14 still might not be good enough for a C-tournament. LU needs to at least beat the 3 bottom feeders left on our schedule to a.) avoid Thursday, b.) avoid seeing WSU or UNI on Friday in a game we probably need to win, and c.) get in a realistic position to qualify for a postseason tournament.

The margin for error is not particularly large for us given our record and injury situation, and seeing games come down to the wire because we can't make free throws isn't very comforting. You can only win so many games shooting 50% from the charity stripe.

I think Super is on to something , IF we truly expected a "tourney" season this year--We did not and surprised most all of us. We were too small. had too many "newbies" which we needed to count upon. We surprised everyone--not the least our competitors. Then of course we hit the injury epidemic--If we had not lost the players we did, the two non Di1 opponents and freebie weakness would have mattered little--BUT it is what it is--Our guys battled through the trouble and we are where we are. DioI want a quick winner--such as this year ?? Of course I do and did--Heck ! I am 86 years old so hurry up team!! BUT now, I will take what these kids give--hope for the best and go from there. If we win enough to get a nice placement in St Louis--great !--If not, I am pleased with what these guys did for themselves and the LUC family. This season , these guys have played like men--as opposed to last years crowd who played--and I mean played like boys who lost sight of why they were at LUC.
Coach did the right thing BTW--cruel seeming as it was--Dividend , this year and our success --even though we were hurt , little and Freebie challenged--

We have a ways to go--I am enjoying it.

As regards SIU--Faggedaboutem !! They have NO clue--

GO RAMBLERS

I don't want to sound spoiled. I get this program has had a lot of lean years, and it looks like the program's on the up and up for the first time in a while. But at 13-4, I expected a postseason. I wasn't thinking at-large NCAA bid, but we were on pace for 23 wins and the NIT, nevertheless the CIT and CBI, doesn't shun many 23 win teams. Do you realize how colossal a collapse it is to not even make a tournament?

I think we could have considered it a "colossal collapse" if we were picked to be top three in the league in the beginning of the season, everyone had high hopes, and we had an abundance of talent that were all healthy and stayed healthy. Remember, there was a period before the season where we all thought the Milton Doyle wasn't even going to see the court. We were picked to finish last in the league. Most people, including our fans on the site, felt like the whole season was going to be a complete failure. It's a tough league, and we definitely went through a rough stretch, but there are still plenty of games for them to finish strong, and even if they only pick up one or two, I would not call the whole thing a collapse

To the surprise of probably no one, I'm with Toledo on this. We aren't good enough to overcome the loss of Doyle, but we knew that going into the year. We are better than we thought, and with Doyle, we are actually a pretty darn good team. That's progress.

Honestly you're right about the preseason expectations. I'll admit that I myself was one of the more pessimistic ones in regards to height (ps Jim was proven right about our height situation), schedule, Milt and Keke's health. But we needed 5 wins at the minimum on January 15 to make a postseason tournament. Given the first two months of the season, that became a realistic figure., and quite frankly it still is a realistic figure with 5 games remaining. But given our most recent performances, especially the free throw shooting, there is more and more cause for concern.
