Well, good on 25 !!

We get a guard to fill our roster for next year. Nice, but that is all it is--a completion of our roster. Unless , this guard can become a superman over the Summer, I feel our team will compete and compete well because we are good and PM is our coach. THAT will be a good combo and hard to beat--Our competition had better be on guard. Porter and the Little Guys won 24 games--He now has some height and muscle--I like what I see.

If the amount of eligibility remaining is an issue, it sounds like Quinton Jackson, the guy JCT mentioned who reportedly left Catonville midseason this year for the University of Pikeville in the NAIA. It doesn't seem like he suited up at Pikeville, after playing 12 games at Catonville. I don't know if those 12 games were spread out over both semesters. He also apparently "redshirted" his second year at Catonville to get his academics in order (I never heard of this practice at the junior college level.) His situation would seem to raise a host of eligibility questions.

Of course I could be wrong about it being Jackson. I sure hope we get the official word in the next couple of days. I stayed up past my bedtime waiting for streak's report (which I appreciate).

Here's a good article about Jackson, including a short video in which he appears: http://www.delmarvanow.com/story/sports ... /20709789/

Regardless if it's Quinton Jackson or some other junior college player from Baltimore, this latest signing means that of Porter's last 7 recruits, not ONE has been a high school senior. (Peterson, James, Rajala, Kirby, Adgei, Custer and Jackson/other).

Contrast this with Porter's first 8 recruits (Thomas, Payne, White, Turk, King, Osborne, O'Leary, and Williams), all of whom except Payne were high school seniors.

This definitely looks like a change of recruiting philosophy on Porter's part. It seems to have worked last year with the success of Peterson and James (and Kansas transfer Doyle), but I hope we don't become Transfer U. I find it harder to relate to players who are with Loyola for only a short stint, and transfers often come with unwanted baggage or academic deficiencies.

I agree. The good news is that most of them are eligible for 3+ years.

Rajala - 4 (3 remaining)
Kirby - 3
Adgei - 4
Custer - 3

Success brings choices.
On the other hand, a starving person doesn't pick from the menu or ask what is the daily special.

I agree in the perfect world I would like high school seniors. But on the other hand, we have had so little success, I will take any legitimate path that gets us there.

Jones did sign and Smart did commit. With Smart committing we moved of some players who then committed elsewhere.

Moser is doing a great job getting us talent

On a related note, I think I've changed my mind about 90% on recruiting locally.

I want us to build and keep local connections, and I want to have legitimate shots at getting guys like Marlon Jones and Roosevelt Smart. But now I could pretty much care less where someone is from. Is he a good player? Willing to work hard? Somebody who wants to win? Fun to root for? That's basically all I care about now. Get us the best player and fit we can find whether he's from Morgan Park or Gabookistan.
