I have followed Benet for years and Loyola for several as Coach Moser is a proud alum. Why would anyone want to rip into Sean O'Mara? The suggestion was ego, however everything I have seen and read suggests a pretty humble and team oriented kid. Lot's of folks questioned why he played football through all 4 years of high school rather than focusing on basketball as well as not risking injury. Believe his response was could not image leaving his teammates and loving playing. Watched a few basketball games and was a very willing passer to teammates.
Happened to watch the Xavier vs. Cincinnati game, since you only mentioned the second half, perhaps you missed the first half when Sean played 6 minutes including the final 4 when he was only post on the floor due to foul trouble and group stretched lead from 10 to 16 points. He had nice post move for bucket and shut out their center Ellis.
After reading your post did some more checking, last season while playing sparingly behind 5th year senior Big East 2nd team center Stainbrook, experienced championship run at Madison Square Garden before falling to Villanova were he scored 4 points, as well as #6 seed in NCAA tournament and Sweet 16 run. Sean also made Big East all academic team his freshman year.
This year so far his minutes per game are up significantly while playing behind two kids that may end up getting drafted, a senior and red shirt junior. Finally, Xavier is currently rated #10 in the country and have the #1 RPI.
Sean would have been a terrific Rambler, however, sounds like quite an experience so far!
