Osborne follows Jason Gardner to IUPUI.

I'm expecting Jordan Pickett to go there also.

I'm guessing we'll see them again. Word has it that we're trying to schedule games with IUPUI

Yeah, that'll be interesting.

Yeah, that'll be interesting.

There's no way I see that happening. Porter would have nothing to gain and everything to lose. If you're gonna schedule a cupcake non-con game, why not go with an opponent who has players that aren't hungry to prove the old coach wrong?

I agree, but if it's this coming year, the transfers wouldn't be able to play.

I have a reliable source telling me that they are scheduling IUPUI. Whether it's the right or wrong thing to do...I have no opinion.

Playing IUPUI is fraught with issues. They won a grand total of THREE games all year in 2013-14, but one was against Bradley in Peoria, and one was against a top 100 RPI team, North Carolina Central. Their third DI win was against a respectable Denver team. They also came within two points of knocking off Northwestern in Evanston. Yet despite how potentially dangerous they were, they had an RPI of 322.

With teams like that (uh, you could also count us as one of "those teams" until we get our act together), you're not going to get much benefit if you win, but you'll be hurt pretty badly if you lose. High risk, low reward.

So now, not only are we going to play them, we're going to do it with coach who used to sit on our bench, and even some of our players (if not in the game, at least able to practice with the team)? I know it's apparently JUST TOO DARN DIFFICULT for us to put together even a mediocre schedule... that has been unambiguously established for the past two years. And I know that we NEVER consider starting the scheduling process before Coach Moser has had time to check in at every professional sporting event going on during this busy spring. So maybe IUPUI is the best we can do....

It's not really whether it's right or wrong for Loyola cause I would have no opinion on that either. If IUPUI is the worst team on our home schedule, then it's a step up from Rockhurst I guess. But Indiana St.'s board despises that game as one of those RPI killers.

IUPUI is also a winnable game. They are losing their top scorer from last season (Chiles), already have 3 transfers (Osborne, Combs, and former Loyola recruiting target Leo Svete) sitting out using up scholarships. If Pickett goes to IUPUI, they'll have 9 available scholarship players, and that's if everyone's healthy. Verbal Commits says they're 3 over the scholarship limit right now, although I'm sure Gardner learned how to trim down a roster during his time here. They have a lot of familiar names on their scholarship chart. We were really high on Aaron Brennan, who's a verbal commit at IUPUI, and Pat Ingram, who VC says left the team but was recruited by us out of high school.

Because of the familiarity and prestige of IUPUI, I'm saying this is 100% the wrong move for Porter. He must be out of his mind if he schedules them with a new AD coming in, zero job security, and to boot he wrapped up a season with about a dozen losses to beatable opponents. How can you justifiably argue for your job after one of your old assistants beats you at a worse school in a worse conference with a good chunk of former Ramblers? It would spell the end of PM's time here no doubt.
