I have a reliable source telling me that they are scheduling IUPUI. Whether it's the right or wrong thing to do...I have no opinion.
It's not really whether it's right or wrong for Loyola cause I would have no opinion on that either. If IUPUI is the worst team on our home schedule, then it's a step up from Rockhurst I guess. But Indiana St.'s board despises that game as one of those RPI killers.
IUPUI is also a winnable game. They are losing their top scorer from last season (Chiles), already have 3 transfers (Osborne, Combs, and former Loyola recruiting target Leo Svete) sitting out using up scholarships. If Pickett goes to IUPUI, they'll have 9 available scholarship players, and that's if everyone's healthy. Verbal Commits says they're 3 over the scholarship limit right now, although I'm sure Gardner learned how to trim down a roster during his time here. They have a lot of familiar names on their scholarship chart. We were really high on Aaron Brennan, who's a verbal commit at IUPUI, and Pat Ingram, who VC says left the team but was recruited by us out of high school.
Because of the familiarity and prestige of IUPUI, I'm saying this is 100% the wrong move for Porter. He must be out of his mind if he schedules them with a new AD coming in, zero job security, and to boot he wrapped up a season with about a dozen losses to beatable opponents. How can you justifiably argue for your job after one of your old assistants beats you at a worse school in a worse conference with a good chunk of former Ramblers? It would spell the end of PM's time here no doubt.
